Discovering the Yucatán Peninsula
Located in southeastern Mexico, the Yucatán Peninsula is a vibrant region known for its rich Mayan heritage, stunning natural wonders, and warm, turquoise waters. This geographic marvel separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Caribbean Sea and is home to some of Mexico’s most significant archaeological sites and beautiful landscapes.
Our Collaborative Mission
At Pride Adventure Travel, alongside our partners at California Gay Adventures, we aim to forge deep connections through adventure, celebrating the diversity and vibrancy of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our journey through the Yucatán was designed to be more than a vacation; it was a voyage of discovery and community, reflecting our shared values of inclusivity and exploration.
Where We Went & Stayed
Our Yucatán adventure took us to some of the peninsula’s most captivating locations:
- Playa del Carmen: Where we started our journey, enjoying the lively beaches and vibrant nightlife.

- Isla Holbox: Known for its laid-back island vibe and stunning sunsets, we stayed at the Cabanas Coconut Hotel.

- Chichen Itzá: We explored these iconic ruins with an expert guide, diving deep into Mayan history.

- Izamal:Known as the “Yellow City,” we were captivated by its uniformly painted golden buildings and the historic Convento de San Antonio de Padua.

- Mérida: In this cultural hub, we experienced the local life and stayed at Hotel Santa Lucia, enjoying its colonial charm.

- Tulum: Our adventure concluded in this trendy coastal town, where we marveled at seaside Mayan ruins and relaxed on white sandy beaches.

- Bacalar Lagoon: After Tulum, we escaped to the serene Bacalar Lagoon, where we rented a luxurious villa right on the water’s edge, enjoying the tranquility and stunning views of one of the most beautiful lagoons.

Each location was carefully chosen to ensure comfort while maintaining the authenticity of our travel experience. We recognized the need for occasional luxury and are planning to enhance our accommodations in future travels.
Vibrant Nightlife and Culinary Delights
The nights were alive with energy as we explored local gay bars and enjoyed drag shows, embracing the inclusive nightlife of the Yucatán. Culinary experiences were central to our journey, with group meals that featured a plethora of local dishes, each reflecting the region’s rich flavors and culinary heritage.
