Exploring Europe doesn’t have to break the bank. Pride Adventure Travel is excited to propose an affordable backpacking trip across Europe designed specifically for a small group of like-minded gay men. This journey promises rich cultural experiences, adventure, and camaraderie, all while staying within a budget.

While the entire trip will take a full month or so to complete, we get that not everyone can take that much time off work. That’s why we may offer “legs” to join, ranging from 9-10 days, so you can still be part of this incredible adventure. We’d love your feedback on this proposed trip, so please take a moment to fill out our survey to help us shape future trips and experiences.

Discovering Eastern Europe

Budapest, Hungary

Our adventure begins in the historic and picturesque city of Budapest. Staying at the cozy Hostel One Budapest, travelers can enjoy the city’s famous Széchenyi Thermal Bath, visit Buda Castle, and take part in a free walking tour. The city’s gay scene is vibrant, with popular spots like Why Not Bistro and Alterego Club offering lively nightlife options.

Krakow, Poland

Next, we head to Krakow, where Mosquito Hostel provides a friendly atmosphere. Explore the historic Old Town, Wawel Castle, and take a day trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau. For a night out, check out Klub Pozytywka and Cocon Music Club, known for their welcoming environments.

Exploring the Balkans

Belgrade, Serbia

Belgrade’s unique mix of history, culture, and nightlife awaits. Staying at Hedonist Hostel, travelers can visit Kalemegdan Fortress and enjoy the bohemian vibe of Skadarlija. The city’s gay-friendly Smiley Bar and Club offer great nightlife, though caution and respect are advised as Serbia can be more conservative.

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

In Sarajevo, Hostel Franz Ferdinand offers a great base to explore the city’s rich history. Stroll through Baščaršija, visit the War Tunnel Museum, and enjoy the local cuisine. Sarajevo’s gay scene is small but growing, with places like City Pub offering a welcoming atmosphere.

Savoring Southern Europe

Sofia, Bulgaria

Sofia’s vibrant streets and ancient history make it a hidden gem. Hostel Mostel is the perfect place to stay while visiting the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and Vitosha Boulevard. Check out The Steps and The Apartment for a taste of Sofia’s small but friendly gay scene.

Athens, Greece

Athens Backpackers provides a central location for exploring the Acropolis, Plaka district, and the National Archaeological Museum. The Gazi district is the heart of Athens’ gay nightlife, with popular bars like BEQueer and Rooster.

Experiencing Western Europe

Lisbon, Portugal

Home Lisbon Hostel offers a comfortable stay in Lisbon’s picturesque neighborhoods. Discover Belem Tower, ride Tram 28, and explore the Alfama district. The city’s thriving gay scene includes Finalmente Club and TR3S Lisboa, centered in the Principe Real district.

Seville, Spain

Our final stop is Seville, where La Banda Rooftop Hostel provides an ideal base. Visit Seville Cathedral, the royal Alcázar, and Plaza de España. El Bosque Animado and Men to Men Bar are popular spots in Seville’s welcoming gay scene.

Budget-Friendly Transportation

Traveling on a budget is made easy with a mix of budget airlines, trains, and buses. Ryanair and EasyJet offer low-cost flights across Europe. The Eurail Pass is perfect for flexible and cost-effective train travel, and FlixBus and Eurolines provide affordable bus services for shorter distances.

Safety in Numbers

Traveling in a group not only enhances the experience but also ensures safety, especially in countries with more conservative attitudes towards LGBTQ+ travelers. Our group dynamic at Pride Adventure Travel ensures that everyone feels supported and secure while exploring new cultures and landscapes.

Estimated Pricing

While pricing is not set yet, attendees could expect to pay between $1,000-$1,500 per leg of this adventure. Each leg will be approximately 9-10 days, making it feasible for those with limited time off work. This setup ensures affordability while maintaining quality experiences throughout the journey. Please note that pricing does not include food or flights, though most hostels and hotels offer breakfast included.
